Ingredients

  • For the porridge
  • For the apple
  • To finish

Let’s make it.

  1. Dice the apple small — about 1 cm — so it softens in the time the oats take to cook.
  2. On the stove. Put the oats, water, milk, salt, diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring now and then.
  3. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring more often towards the end, until the oats are creamy and the apple is tender. Add a splash more milk if it gets too thick.
  4. In the Zojirushi rice cooker. Put everything except the pecans and maple syrup in the inner pot, stir, close the lid and select the regular Oatmeal setting. Stir when it beeps.
  5. Spoon into a warm bowl, top with the pecans and drizzle with maple syrup.

Goes well with.
